A book containing the definition of all the things in the world. Then, the legacy of a writer for his first-born son with intellectual disabilities. And a dream: on the day of his death, all the accumulated experience in him would flow to the innocent spirit of his child.
Recusa is narrated and sung from two viewpoints and their multiples: two Piripkura Indians; two native heroes, Pud and Pudleré, creators of beings; a priest who had been swallowed by a jaguar who decided to choose an unexpected dwelling; a farmer who killed an Indian and the same Indian, who killed him; a female singer who becomes lost in the jungle; Macunaíma and his brother; the Taurepang heroes; and many more.
Followed by a “little girl”, a blind man searches what no other man has ever found: Eldorado. The whole story can be summarised as that. Once upon a time there was a man who searched. In times and places of the trip, room be left for humanity – crossing.
Pedrinha is a survivor of “Chacina da Candelária” (Candelária Slaughter, a sad episode in which homeless children were killed in Rio de Janeiro). From under a newsstand he saw the execution of eight boys. As he narrates what happened in the middle of that night, Pedrinha uncovers a society that denies even the death of homeless kids!
