Agora e na hora de nossa hora | Now and at the time of our turn

AGORA E NA HORA DE NOSSA HORA
NOW AND AT THE TIME OF OUR TURN

Pedrinha is a survivor of “Chacina da Candelária” (Candelária Slaughter, a sad episode in which homeless children were killed in Rio de Janeiro). From under a newsstand he saw the execution of eight boys. As he narrates what happened in the middle of that night, Pedrinha uncovers a society that denies even the death of homeless kids!

Agora e na Hora de nossa Hora (Now and at the Time of our Turn) sets the “invisible city” at the center of the scene. Everyday we go through it but we don’t really see it. There are homeless children in the city but we hardly notice them. The play shows the daily life of one of those boys: a survivor who strives, loves, hides, smokes crack, lives. Pedrinha’s life goes on in a delicate, poetic manner, with a sound of classical viola at the background.

Even though it deals with a historical event, the play isn’t restricted to a documentary. The research included the observation of homeless children in Campinas, Rio, and São Paulo; it included also the influence of the tale by Juan Rulfo, titled Macário. Our story changes history in an attempt to make it never be repeated.
